Greetings!

My name is Joey and I'm the owner of Crowsnest 3D and the creator of Spin Counters Canada 😀

The spin counter journey started in 2024 when friends invited me to learn and play Magic: The Gathering. I heard about the game previously but never really looked into it. They gave me a commander deck to get started and was immediately hooked!

My first deck was a Clone/Prowess deck [Alania, Divergent Storm], and boy did I learn fast that keeping track of everything was a nightmare. 😥 Treasure tokens, spell casts for prowess, floating mana, +1/+1 counters and so much more! We mostly used dice to keep track of things and counting on fingers, but dang did it get complicated fast. (Nevermind keeping track of what other players were doing, or if the table got bumped!)

As I had just bought my first 3D printer that year I was up to the challenge to make things easier. I spent weeks coming up with the first set of prototypes, creating in total around 100 versions to just get the look and feel perfect. It paid off, I brought a set to the next Magic night and everyone was hooked! It made tracking the game state so much easier for everyone at the table.

I realized that other play groups must have the same issue, so in 2024 I started selling spin counters on my Etsy Shop and to some locals. As with most Etsy shops things started slow, really slow, but the ball started rolling as we entered 2025. As of writing this we are now sitting at 452 sales, 85 reviews with an average of 4.9/5, and a star seller on Etsy!

Since my shop has opened I have continued to iterate the design to make the Spin Counters better and more affordable. Counting all redesigns we are now at version 137 of the spin counter design, not including the double counters or magnetic counters! 🤯

Currently I'm still working a day job, I hope that one day I can make this my full-time job and expand the products/services I can offer. This website is the next step towards that goal. 🤞
